ANNUAL CONFERENCE
Rancho Mirage, CA - June 4, 2006 – Pearce, Patterson and Associates, Incorporated, an associate member of the California Health Information Association attended the CHIA annual conference in Rancho Mirage, CA. This year's annual meeting focused on changes in Information Management, the implications/ramifications of Personal Medical Records (PMR), and the potential impact of unified Electronic Medical Records. The four day conference was attended by more than 400 healthcare professionals from all over the state. The CHIA is the largest AHIMA affiliate conference in the country. Gary Patterson, President and CEO of PP&A, contacted while at the event, stated, "I'm very interested in hearing more about PMR and EHR. These two new applications have the potential to dramatically improve patient care and give patients the ability to manage their own care. But, the question is, 'If patient care is in the hands of the patient, how competent will that care be?" He went on to say, "It's important that I am here to understand the direction and impact that future technologies have upon our clients' business. If we're to be their value-added partner, it's imperative that we understand what is being required of them."
